Waring Commercial Convection Oven: Half-Size - 1.5 cubic feet Review

I bought this oven to make cookies for my start-up cookie business, but so far, it's not been working very well. Some cookies are burned and others raw. The instructions say to rotate the pans halfway through -- which is annoying -- but that doesn't really solve the problem either. On a half-size sheet pan, you can usually get 4 or 5 rows of cookies and the rows in the middle are raw while the outside rows are dark on the outside edge (closest to the fan in back). Unless you rotated each individual cookie, you won't be able to get even browning. I'll keep trying, but so far, this has been a big disappointment and waste of a lot of money.

Salton/Toastmaster TCOV6R Toastmaster .98 Cu. Ft. Convection Oven Review

This is the perfect oven for me.I have to cook from a wheelchair.The door opens from the side so I don't have to reach over a hot door.The door also comes off easily for cleaning.The door coming off also makes the unit lighter to move around.This is the new model and has some improvements.My old one did not have a light or convection or rotisseri.I had my old one for 25 years and was very glad to find that Toastmaster still makes them.The new one has an extension in the back so you can use 12 inch round pans such as a pizza pan.I bake and broil everything in this oven.It works great.Of course it is too small for a very large turkey but you will be surpirsed what you can fit into it.It is very nice looking.The exterior is all stainless steel and very well made. I don't think you will be disappointed with this oven.

This is a great little oven.It reaches temperature fast and it stays at temperature.The convection oven fan is a little noisy, but not annoying.The rotisserie feature works great, but don't expect to do any large items.Cornish hens is the limit or a very small chicken. This oven works great for drying peppers.I use my drying racks from my old Toastmaster convection oven.

West Bend Countertop Convection Oven - 74766 Review

I wrote two reviews for this oven because I ended up purchasing it twice. The first one shocked me with its terrible functioning, but as of purchasing the second one, I have no complaints with its operation (thus far). I wonder if these ovens suffer from some quality control issues. In order, here are my reviews:

Review #1: This is quite possibly one of the worst appliances I have ever bought in my life and I seriously hope my model is simply defective.

(1) It entire oven itself shakes and buzzes. The vibrations are terrible.
(2) The glass door touches the front of the oven and makes a loud buzzing noise. If you push against the handle, it quiets down a bit, but it's still as loud as a hair dryer. Not a comforting noise, especially listening from another room. I would say it's like listening to a bathroom fan or a jackhammer (from 2 blocks away).
(3) The fan is noisy. It starts and stutters and makes noises as if it is hitting the metal enclosure inside. If you've ever run your finger against a fan to hear the whup-whup-whup noise it makes, then you know what it sounds like. Except it's against metal, which is more worrisome.

I was so excited when I bought it and now I'm just disgusted and sad instead. It was originally going to get 1 star because it cooked food as it was supposed to. I gave it another star for having options and features. But with an oven this noisy, it's not worth it. Especially if you're paying full price. I'm glad that I paid 1/3 of what it is listed at, at a Dept. Store. However, I nearly jumped out of my skin from fright when I started it and it is going back tomorrow.

Extra note: Is it operator-error or an imbalanced countertop? I pulled out the contractor's level to double-check. My counter top is perfectly level, it was not sitting on anything unbalanced, and it was not touching any other appliances. It's the oven.

Review #2: So being the ever-lasting optimist (or just someone who can't let a good deal go), I purchased another one. I noticed that one leg was shorter than the others, and created an imbalance, but decided to try it anyway. When I clicked the "on" switch and turned the dial to 400 degrees, I held my breath, stepped back, and cringed... but the fan turned on with a gentle and not unpleasant whir. This was markedly different than the last 74766 I purchased, which buzzed and rattled. So I conclude that perhaps it was just a quality control issue. But at the price these were originally sold at, I would have hoped there were no issues! However, now that the mechanical issues are out of the way, I can finally review the oven itself.

It starts up relatively quietly and works well, has several features, though I didn't see a rotisserie option - that is in a different model, but it broils, bakes, and toasts. It comes with a very handy metal pizza disc, and can accommodate up to 12" pizzas and a whole roaster chicken; mind you - not at the same time. It is a bit large but not more than any 1.7 cubic ft. microwave, plus, it's shorter. There is a removable tray at the bottom (pulls out at the front for cleaning) and it comes in stainless or black knobs. I like the auto-shutoff timer option, and prefer the old-fashioned knobs to a digital interface. The oven itself seems sturdy enough, and has a nice metal handle (not plastic like others). It cooked quickly and relatively quietly. I am looking forward to roasting chickens and prepping dishes without needing my regular oven. But I can guarantee that I will be watching this oven closely for mechanical defects, which I'm sad about. If you buy something, you hope not to worry about it breaking! Nevertheless, if you're not paying full price for this oven, it's worth a try. Just buy two ;)

In the summer wanted to cook downstairs where it is cooler.The only problem with that plan was the fact that there is no oven or stove downstairs in the guest-quarters.

I moved the BBQ downstairs, bought a microwave, a single-unit electric hot-plate, but still I needed to bake things especially in the winter when BBQ'ing isn't much fun.

IT IS WONDERFUL!It is so wonderful that I bought one for the formal kitchen upstairs, too!We hardly ever use the built-in oven anymore.The house stays cool because this little oven just doesn't throw off the excess heat as the built-in does.

Euro-pro To284 1200 Watts Toaster Oven Review

I bought this oven because of the large interior to replace another brand with a smaller inside. We needed one to hold a 1 1/2 qt Corning-ware baking dish with its lid on. It works great for that and baking in general, but it is terrible at toasting bread because the heating elements do not stay on like a regular toaster; they cycle on and off like an annoying electrical stove. Not only that, but they take a long time to heat up to toasting temperature, even after ensuring that the settings are correct [you have to remember to set two knobs]. When the toast is finally ready [?], it is more like baked through than toasted on the surface. Now I'm debating whether or not to buy a regular toaster for when I want toast ... when the whole idea of a toaster oven is to eliminate one appliance.

I bought one of these as I moved into my small apartment. The moment I took it out of the box I had a bad feeling about it. It felt badly constructed and not very sturdy. The oven door wouldn't really shut tightly and the heat was seeking out. There was no temperaure control for the hot plates and after two month of occasional use it just died on me. I wouldn't recommend this product to anybody. Avanti should be ashamed of itself to put such a poorly constructed product on the market.

Elite Professional Toaster Oven Broiler - ERO-2006S Review

I thought this toaster-oven was too good to be true. Look at all the features! Well you can't use the top for steaming or cooking without the interior oven being on, which seems very counter-productive. Wanted a rotisserie, but this took forever to cook. The timer shuts off the oven with 10 minutes left to go!
Tried Ellios pizza slices... came out not crisp, not even hot after twice the time listed for baking in toaster-oven. You have to turn one dial to do this... Another dial to enable the first dial.
Perhaps someone else can find this a miracle toaster-oven but that won't be me. I am sorely disappointed. If it sounds too good to be true, it most probably is.

If you want a real counter top oven do not waste your money on a microwave, for healthy cooking, baking and eating a convection is the best.

This oven is everything I have been looking for; great capacity, convection, stainless steel interior, excellent price and good looks.It bakes, and browns and roasts, and broils. It is easy to use.

I just cannot get a properly made one, the oven seal fell off the first one and one of the racks was broken. So i sent it back for a replacement.Got the replacement and the convection fan is much loader than the first, sounds ready to break, the oven seal falls off again and the door is not flush, you can see the hot air leaks.

Back she goes, again.

....also Amazon informs me that they have heard of problems with this model and will not be replacing it a third time.So there you have it.

If you can get a good one (I still cannot vouch for its longevity); you may luck up.

Toastess TTO-506 Silhouette Stainless-Steel Convection Toaster Oven Review

I received this oven very quickly from Ritz Camera. I had contacted them to say the dimensions shown must be incorrect since the height is given as 18.6" which from the picture obviously cannot be right - it cannot be taller than it is wide. The company who makes this oven confirmed the real dimensions which are: Width 17" X Depth 13" (to fit a 12"pizza) and height just 9".
Obviously the true dimensions are better than those given. Who wants a toaster oven over 18" tall?
The oven seems well made and after only one use the fan assisted oven seems to work efficiently and quietly. It was however covered in annoying stickers which are difficult, time-consuming and messy to remove. The pinger or bell when the auto-timer shuts off is almost inaudible. Also, there is no interior light as advertised.
I would give the product 5 stars if it had a continuous clean oven coating. I will update this when it has had some use.

Calphalon HE650CO XL 1400-Watt 0.7-Cubic-Foot 6-Slice Convection Oven Review

I had very high hopes for this oven.It has the Calphalon name on it.Their PR write up sounds so promising.The warranty is good.The oven is handsome.Too bad it fails as an oven though.I tested this oven thoroughly upon receipt.I knew I had to make sure this was a keeper given the price.Save your money and buy a $60 toaster oven.It is important to share that I never use a 'big' oven.Normal ovens pull 3500 watts.They cost a fortune and the overwhelming majority of people don't need such a cavernous appliance.So I bake a lot and everything in countertop ovens.This oven suffers from bad design flaws.You can only use the middle rack position or you will burn the top or bottom of your food.There is almost no internal clearance for anything but the shallowest casserole dish.If you use the rack in the inverted position facing downwards (it has a 'dip' design to - not flat) and pull the rack out to safely remove the dish, the dish slides at a fast clip right out of the oven - almost lost a dish as it rapidly headed for the floor.This is happening because the rack tips down once you pull it forward enough to safely grasp the hot pan.Now I had to flip the rack and use it in that position due to the excessively low clearance - my small casserole dish wouldn't fit and I couldn't move the rack down lest I burn the food - you see where this circle never ends.This occurred regardless of using a casserole dish or a bake sheet.And the back left quadrant cooks much faster than the rest of the oven.I had to watch the food and rotate the pan - talk about aggravating.The back of the oven is actually angled forward presenting a really strange limitation on what it can really hold.I tested many different types of items in the oven to be as thorough and fair as I possibly could especially since it came in such a large packing box.It is going to be a pain to return but return I must unless I feel like cursing everytime I attempt to use it.I am wondering if the people who designed this ever actually used it?A few design changes and this product wouldn't be such a beast.

Clarification:There is an 'edge' to the rack that, when used with the invert facing upwards will stop any dish from sliding out.But the loss of clear space above means only pans or very shallow dishes can be used.Tried using it in this position in the lowest slots but that was still so close to the lower elements that the bottom of the cinnamon rolls burned.Just want to be specific about the issues faced.I am looking for a counter top oven that does more than just pizza, biscuits, etc..I believe the enclosed user guide mentioned you could use this oven to cook a chicken.It had better be either a cut up one or a miniature one.

Delonghi DO-1289 Convection Counter-top Oven Review

I have had the DO1289 for a month and overall I am very happy with it. The toaster is gorgeous and does a great job baking. I have cooked fish and steaks and everything has turned out perfectly. The convection fan is not too loud and does its job well. In terms of toasting, the oven is not spectacular, but certainly adequate. Getting a crispy slice of toast takes about 5 minutes. Though it takes a few clicks to do anything on the toaster, the controls and knobs are straightforward and well designed.

I spent a long time analyzing and breaking down the pros and cons of the different top quality toasters so hopefully this review can save you some time. Here are the other toasters I looked at seriously :

Cuisinart TOB-195: Generally well-reviewed, but I could not get past the fact that the toaster does not have automatic shut-off. This is a key safety feature that I was unwilling to sacrifice. The DO1289 does have auto shut-off and turns off after beeping loudly 3 times. In addtion, the Cuisinart's crumb tray comes out the back, which seems totally stupid and impractical.

Krups FBC2: Looked like the perfect toaster, but again a safety feature got in the way. Apparently the Krups model has a poorly constructed door hinge and is prone to exploding. The DO1289's door is very smooth opening and seems well constructed. The Krups' quartz heating would have been nice, but still not worth it. I also suspect that the Delonghi has a little more overhead clearance than the Krups so I can roast a small chicken.

Breville Smart Oven: If it wasn't so expensive, i might have gone with this since it has every feature and is the most powerful and spacious, but $250 for a toaster is just absurd. I bought my Delonghi refurbished for $70, so it was no contest.

The Delonghi also has an oven light (which most others do not) and a permanently illuminated display-- a great feature at night for seeing the time. One other feature that doesn't get much attention but was very important to me is the Delonghi's enamel interior. This is great because, unlike toasters with nonstick interiors, I can put metal and glass dishes in the oven, as well as aluminum foil (every one of the other aforementioned ovens has a nonstick interior). Plus, I don't trust the chemicals in nonstick and I prefer not to use any nonstick products when I cook.

Based on my comparisons with other toaster ovens, I found that the Delonghi 1289 is the best designed and most practical. The Delonghi's performance is very good, though not spectacular, it has great features and, in my opinion, is the best choice for a high-end toaster oven.

UPDATE: After nearly a year owning the Delonghi DO-1289, I am still very happy with it and everything continues to work exactly as it should.
