Proctor Silex 22605 2-Slice Toaster Review

IN A NUTSHELL: WE HAVE USED THE MODEL #22205 DAILY SINCE 1997

The model 22205 is almost an exact twin of the model offered here, except it was offered for sale to us in 1997. We have 5 children and this brave little toaster has seen alot of service since 1997 without a single problem.

WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT: 900 WATTS - WHITE ENAMEL FINISH - CRUMB TRAY

We have used and overused this little appliance and while 5 coffee makers and 3 'Foreman Grills' have worn out this toaster keeps toasting just like it always has.

CAUTION: HOT TO THE TOUCH

Like toasters of old, this one is hot to the touch with only thin metal and white baked enamel between your fingers and the red hot nichrome filaments that are powered by 900 watts of electricity. Actually, it was the 900 watts versus 7-800 watts of other toasters that got me to buy this in the first place. It even has a crumb bin! Well, 9.5 years and counting, but soon we may want to replace it for a 'cool-touch', though I think we will always keep this brave little toaster around for sentimental reasons.

Proctor Silex 24605 4-Slice Toaster Review

Based on a Consumer's Report review, last year I purchased an inexpensive Proctor-Silex 4 slice toaster, which was as reviewed--wonderful. I needed another such toaster and purchased the one for which these comments are directed--it appears to have replaced the earlier base model. But this one is hardly as good as its predecessor.

The sliding crumb trays have vanished as has the light that one can push to raise the toast before it automatically pops up. And it is not that easy to push the lever down again if the toast needs additional browning. It appears that the toaster needs to cool down a bit before the lever will stay down. And...it takes longer to brown the bread.

It is terrible.

Proctor Silex 4-Slice Toaster Oven/Broiler - Black (31955) Review

I wanted a simple toaster oven to make toast and heat up open sandwiches - nothing fancy- nothing expensiveIt was hard to find because everything has a convection oven (which I didnt' need) which drives the price up into a range I didn't want to pay.This oven meets my needs - it toasts well and quickly - fits 4 slices very tightly (is a little smaller/shorter height inside than I expected.)Easy to see the toast due to rounded door design - I think it was worth the money.
